HOW TO DECORATE FOR A GALENTINE’S DAY TEA PARTY

What better way to celebrate some of your favorite gals or Galentines than with a party! My friend Tian from http://tianshanae.blogspot.com and I hosted a tea party for some of our friends. I am not usually a huge fan of the red hearts and chalky candies that Valentine’s Day brings so we decided to decorate in a blush pink with gold and silver accents.

Here are some ideas for anyone who might be hosting their own party this year. Be sure to check to the bottom of the post fora video of the party as well as the links to the items we used as decor!

DECOR IDEA 1: DESERT BUFFET

I found a tutorial on Pinterest for how to make these adorable flower pom noms and ended up making a ton. I bought the tissue paper at Target and just used some spare string i had lying around the craft room. If you are interested in the tutorial, you can find it here.

What desert buffet would be complete without a donut pyramid and a unicorn cake? We stuck donut holes to a foam cone from Michael’s using tooth picks. Make sure to do this the day of the party because they like to shift overnight.

We had the cake and cupcakes made from a local baker. You can find her Instagram here. She is crazy talented!

DECOR IDEA 2: THE TABLE SETTINGS

It wouldn’t be a tea party without a tea set and some finger foods. Tian bought this lovely tea set from English Tea Store along with some large doilies and charger plates from Michael’s.

We used heart shaped cookie cutters too cut out the little sandwiches. The glass tiered towers from Bed Bath & Beyond were perfect for all of the little finger foods. We had ham and cheese, chicken salad, BLT, and scones in various flavors. The flower tooth picks were the perfect little touch to add some pink and hold everything in place.

Our tea came from Teavana but unfortunately, they aren’t around anymore (thanks Starbucks).

DECOR IDEA 3: THE BAR CART

I love decorating the bar cart seasonally. It is so much fun to get creative with colors and themes. We had pink moscato champagne from Barefoot with champagne flavored cotton candy on top. I added a few little touches of pink with the candy sticks, the rose lemonade, and the napkins from Home Goods. The LOVE balloon was also a great touch and added something to the empty space above the cart.

We took turns taking pictures by the cart with the little pink polaroid camera. The pictures were strung and hung on the wall by the table. They made excellent souvenirs for our guests.

DECOR IDEA 4: THE LITTLE DETAILS

When decorating for a party or event, don’t forget the little details like the pillows and candles. If you keep some neutral colored items around then it makes it super easy to just add touches of pink or whatever color you need.

DECOR IDEA 5: PARTING THOUGHTS

We made little “goody bags” for each of our guests to take home with them along with all of the extra sweets. Each box contained a sheet mask, small makeup remover wipes, champagne gummy bears, a bath bomb shaped like a macaroon, a rose gold nail polish, a creaseless hair tie, and some chocolate hearts. I added a pink paper doily with each of their names to the front and wrapped them all up in clear wrap.

VOILA! YOU HAVE YOURSELF A PARTY!

The whole thing was so much fun and it was great getting to spend some time with some friends. Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be all about romance and boyfriends/girlfriends/wives/husbands, it is just as important to show your friends some love.
